<note>Breathaking developments in human genetics are turning yesterday's science fiction into today's possibilities, raising new and difficult questions for Christian ethics. Drawing on discussions among pastors, theologians and ethicists and researchers, medical doctors and scientists from the Nordic Lutheran Churches, this book begins by introducing the issues of reproductive technology, prenatal diagnosis, genetic screening and euthanasia. It then outlines an ethical approach highlighting insight from the world, culture and the limits of ethics. The ethical reflections are then given concrete and down-to-earth form in eight fictitious letters written by thoughtful Christians on such subjects as childlessness; ageing, death and dying; the use of scarce medical resources; genetic testing in the workplace; and human gene research.</note>
