<note>What is truth? Western thought deals with the questions of truth mainly from a Christian and/or a post-Christian, secular viewpoint. However, this study by philosopher of religion Hendrik Vroom broadens the horizon to include other perspective as well. Vroom begins by discussing truth in interreligious perspective and the debate over religious truth in Western philosophy. He then describes the concept of truth in each of the world's major religions Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Finally he provides an analysis of the meaning of truth in religion and interreligious encounter, describing religious traditions as 'multifaceted belief system' which both overlap and exhibit differences. A fine introductory textbook for courses in religious studies, theology and philosophy of religion this book will also be helpful for those interested in one of the foremost challenges of our time: religious pluralism, interreligious encounter and mutual understanding.</note>
