The Life of Father Pro
This book presents the biography of Father Miguel Pro, a Mexican Jesuit priest who was martyred during a period of religious persecution. The author chronicles Father Pro’s life journey, from his formation in Europe and his ordination in 1925 to his return to Mexico, where he ministered to the faithful amidst anti-clerical policies that banned religious activities. Using disguises and great courage, Father Pro continued to celebrate Mass, distribute Communion, and administer sacraments in secret. He was subsequently falsely accused of involvement in an assassination attempt against former President Álvaro Obregón and was executed without a fair trial on November 23, 1927. Through this story, the author portrays Father Pro as an exemplar of faith, courage, forgiveness, and steadfast devotion to God.
