The Last Twelve Verses of Mark
This book examines the authenticity of the last twelve verses of Mark's Gospel (Mark 16:9–20). For many years, many biblical scholars argued that Mark's Gospel originally ended at Mark 16:8, because some ancient manuscripts omit verses 9–20. However, others argued that this section was indeed an original part of Mark's Gospel. William R. Farmer wrote this book to review the evidence for and against the authenticity of these verses. He examines the testimony of the early Church Fathers, various ancient translations of the Bible, and the research of modern scholars. Through this review, the author demonstrates that the question of the authenticity of the end of Mark's Gospel is still open to debate and worthy of further study.
