The purpose of this book is to collect everything the New Testament tells us about the twelve apostles, and to supplement this information with the most interesting and significant traditions and legends about them that have come down to us. The author in no way claims that these traditions and legends have any claim to history; but they have their own importance, because the stories circulating about a person tell us much about that person, even when they are not factually accurate.
