Fabricated Man: The Ethics of Genetic Control
Fabricated Man: The Ethics of Genetic Control is a book by Paul Ramsey, published in 1970 by Yale University Press. It is one of the earliest and most important works in biomedical ethics, particularly in its discussion of the impact of advances in genetic technology on humanity. Ramsey opposed the notion that humans could be fabricated (altered or engineered) for specific purposes. He expressed concern about attempts to alter human nature through technologies such as cloning, genetic engineering, and sperm banking. Ramsey warned that rapid advances in chromosome knowledge had moved genetic control from the realm of science fiction to laboratory reality, threatening the future of humanity itself.
