<note>A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture is a comprehensive one-volume reference work designed to provide a scholarly yet orthodox guide for Catholics in understanding the Bible. In addition to a verse-by-verse commentary, it includes special articles on such important topics as the inspiration of Scripture, inerrancy, the history of the text, archaeology, and the geography of the Holy Land. It is the result of nine years of work by a group of leading Catholic scholars who aimed to integrate modern biblical studies with traditional Catholic tradition. Their endeavor was to sum up the results of recent international scholarship, and to put them at the disposal not only of Catholics but also of all those who would be glad to know more of the Catholic Church's teaching on Scripture and of the way in which her members interpret it.</note>
