Luther
Luther in the preface to his friend Link's translation of the Life of Francesco Sforza writes as follow: The writing of history requires a man who tells the truth without fear; but some do not mention, while some, on the other hand, emphasize good or the evil, with a view to pleasing their prince or their friends they exaggerate and exalt insignificant virtues, and even those that are non-existent.
