International Morality
The threat of thermonuclear war, world hunger and population growth, colonialism, the rights of small nations, the need for a genuinely representative world authority, the list of urgent international problems seems endless to anybody who opens a newspaper. Many people are tempted to give up the effort to think about this problems at all when they do think about them, to rely on a morality or expedicency. Christians cannot opt out in any way, they have to think about the world and its problems both in practical day-to-day terms and in terms of ultimate values based on the teaching and example of Jesus Christ. In this book Fr de Soras provides a cogent and realistic discussion of what the Church’s teaching is on present problems which may arise in the future if present trends continued. His discussion includes the bases of Catholic international morality and 'historco-prudential' considerations, their relation both to existing organizations such as UNO and to the cold war and 'peaceful coexistence'.
