Mary McKillop: The Life Mother Mary of the Cross, Founders of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart
Mary MacKillop (Saint Mary of the Cross) was an Australian woman who, with Father Julian Tenison-Woods, founded the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (Josephites) in 1866, dedicated to providing free Catholic education and welfare for the poor in Australia and New Zealand. Despite facing poverty and intense opposition, including a temporary excommunication, she established numerous schools, orphanages, and institutions, becoming Australia's first saint after her canonization in 2010. Her life was defined by unwavering faith, service to the underprivileged, and resilience in leadership, embodying the motto 'Never see a need without doing something about it'.
