The Christian Buddhism of St. John: New Insights into the Fourth Gospel
The author documents the fact that in antiquity John was credited with a number of disciples who represent a abroad spectrum of theological views. He then moves on to the question of Buddhist influence on John -first in terms of the original position of the Supper discourses in the fourth gospel which appear to be displaced, and secondly in terms of John's theology and Christology. John's theology of God as experienced through love is best understood if compared with the Buddhist experience of perfect widson through emptiness. If johannine thought is read in this fashion, a whole new understand of the reality of the Trinity is opened to us.
