Our Changing Liturgy
The Church is the people of God at worship , Father McNaspy explains why the Church began its vast encounter with present day problems by reexamining its liturgy. The results of this encounter have been formulated by Vatican Council II in its Constitution on the Liturgy and the text of the Constitution is included here, allowing the reader more meaningfully to follow Father McNaspy's lucid explanations. Father McNaspy also delves into the ecumenical influences of this renewal, explaining the symbolism of music, church buildings and other externals. Also clarified are new forms used in the Mass and other celebrations, the use of vernacular, reasons for eliminating certain Mass prayers and the new emphasis given to the homily, or sermon.
