This book give an outline of liturgical history from its primitive begginings to its present development in the Roman Catholic Church. The reader can have nothing but admiration for the way in which the author deals with the origins and development of the Mass. The treatment is clear and succinct, and each fresh subject has a descriptive heading. Refers to all the important work that has recently been done, sets out the alternative theories where that is necessary, and draws his own conclusions. All this is done with simplicity and clarity, and the result is a book full, not only of information, but of interest. As a summary of the history of Christian worship along the Roman branch it is excelent.
