The Assisi Papers
The Assisi Papers is a collection of papers (proceedings) from the First International Congress of Pastoral Liturgy held in Assisi, Rome, in 1956. These documents discuss various aspects of Catholic liturgical practice and its essence. An academic/ecclesiastical publication, it contains a collection of contributions and discussions from theologians, pastors, and lay people who participated in the congress. It also offers insight into the events and discussions that laid the foundation for the liturgical reform that was later formalized at the Second Vatican Council (which took place a few years after this congress) and continues to influence contemporary liturgical practice. It is considered an essential resource for scholars and practitioners interested in the history and theology of the liturgy.
