The Catholic Tradition 2000 Years of Great Writings, v.2: Social Thought

This series aims to present readers with the complete written heritage of the Roman Catholic faith. The volumes collect important works by approximately 200 of the greatest Catholic writers throughout history, from the early Church Fathers to contemporary authors. Specifically, the volumes in the series address various aspects of Catholic history, doctrine, and spirituality. For example, one volume focuses on the history of the Church itself, addressing such topics as: The history of the Catholic Church and the origins of its teachings; The key Christological Councils; The differences between Eastern and Western spirituality; The crucial role of the pope and bishops during the Middle Ages; The thought of Augustine and Aquinas; The rise and decline of Christian Europe; The major issues raised by the Protestant Reformation (priesthood, Eucharist, spirituality, and church structure). This is a comprehensive study that, while committed to the Catholic faith, also addresses equally the failures and challenges the Church has faced throughout its history. Its aim is to show how the Catholic tradition has shaped our worldview and addressed various social and cultural issues over time.
