Instrument of Thy Peace is a book of meditations by Alan Paton, inspired by the Prayer of St. Francis. Written in the 1960s, it uses the prayer to explore what it means to be an active agent of peace and to embody the prayer's call to be an instrument of love, pardon, faith, and console. Paton wrote the book while his wife was dying, and it reflects on how to find and be a source of peace, even in times of personal suffering and during the difficult political climate of apartheid in South Africa.
