Although he is famous and beloved as a novelist. Canon Sheehan was also one of the most farseeing and penetrating thinkers of the second half of the nineteenth century the period in which were forged, painfully and laborously, the ideals that were to culminate in the rising of 1916. Here we meet him as commentator and philosopher, finding sermon in stone and good in everything. He tells us of some of his interests: Plato and Aristotle.
