Natural Law: A Theological Investigation
Natural Law is a philosophy that holds that there are universal moral values and rights inherent in human nature, which can be understood through reason and form the basis for a just society. This theory holds that there is a universal moral law, independent of culture or customs, and which constitutes a fundamental moral code for regulating human behavior and reasoning. The teaching of natural law has now taken on a more assertive tone. The strong emphasis placed by Church authorities on natural law in their more recent pronouncements, together with theological reflection on supernatural realities, has contributed to this reconstruction.
