The Vocation of Aloysius Gonzaga
Aloysius Gonzaga born in Italy, the eldest son of a military commander, he was expected to follow in his father's footsteps as a soldier. From a young age, he disliked the lifestyle of soldiers and nobles, which he considered cruel and evil. Despite his father's opposition, Aloysius decided to renounce his inheritance and power to serve God and join the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The story of Saint Aloysius focuses on his rejection of the luxurious life of nobility to enter the Society of Jesus, and his subsequent death from the plague while caring for the sick in Rome. Aloysius, a nobleman born in 1568, rejected his father's path to military service and chose a religious life of simplicity, prayer, and selfless service to others, especially the oppressed and suffering.
