The theme of this book is the Church and the Churches. It gives the roots and the reasons for the various denominations or, as the author calls them, confusions living side by side. He does not try to justify the tragedy of disunion among Christians, but he does show that there are really important issues of belief and history at stake. The central and recurring theme may be put in the reality in Christianity on which every Christian can be agreed.
