The Second Session
The Second Session of the Ecumenical Council, summoned by Pope Paul VI, provided a historic answer to the question raised last June on the death of the beloved Pope John XXIII, as to whether Vatican II would be continued. The new Pope not only announced that the Council would be a major concern of his pontificate, but he set an opening date almost as early as the one Pope John himself had chosen before his death.
