The five chapters of St. John that are referred to as 'Our Lord's farewell', or 'the discourse of Jesus after the Last Supper' have always been contemplation, a source of joy and strength, choice nourishment for souls who seek God with ardor. They contain what Christ has most profoundly and most intimately revealed to us. Within them his tenderness and delicacy for his disciples and, beyond them, for us all.
