The Meaning of the Sacraments

The original language of the sacraments grew out of life experience and its repercussion on ordinary flesh and blood people, just as any language grows. This book attempts to lead the reader back to the experiences, to relive them in imagination and make them his own. The book, therefore, picks up the biblical themes and indicates briefly what Christian experience has made of these biblical themes. From that point each chapter considers the implications of some common and urgent questions that Catholics encounter today about sacramental practice, in the light of the traditional devotion and of theological reflection.
