The aim of this book is to provide a reasonably detailed description, interpretation and criticism of a number of books; as a result a selection according to fixed criteria had to be made from the host of modern Christian writers. Christian literature is here used to mean only books dealing directly with Christian doctrine, history or piety and written in a Christian spirit.
