We all, at least from time to time, have feelings of failure, of inadequacy, of guilt- feelings caused sometimes by our own shortcomings, sometimes by those of our society. We feel guilty because of our own country's exploitation of others, or because of our corporate inability to share the word's resources equitably. What do we manage to alleviate them, to live with them? The author maintains that the Christian statement of the problem, and the Christian insights into its solution, are not only still valid, but that up to a point they remain valid even if one rejects the traditional religious terms in which they have been stated.
