A Short Defence of Religion: Chiefly for Young People Against the Unbelievers of Our Days
The present volume supplies a solution to many important questions, seldom brought together, as the reader will so soon find. He can hardly fail to be pleased in meeting with so learned an author as Father Ballerini, who knows how to treat every subject in a clear, concise manner, easily understood. It is certanly remarkable that the philosophy of the ancients often turned men into gods, while that of the moderns seem to glory in turning men into beasts anything to escape the obligations of the Christian religion, which strives to lead them to a happy eternity, but which, by a culpable abuse of their free will, they can resist.
