Some years ago a lapel-button appeared with the legend: God exists, but he doesn't want to get involved. The basic message of the great Judaeo-Christian tradition which, in one form or another, has influenced so much of our thinking is that God is very much involved. The Letter to the Hebrews is one of the most significant studies of what that involvement has meant.
