The Year of Luke has been written by scholars working in Australia and they reflect the richness of the different christian traditions to which they belong. They display an awareness of the needs of preachers, teachers and students of the Bible. Like the other Gospel writers, Luke did not simply transmit the story of Jesus' life and teaching as he had received it. The year of Luke is offered as a guide for interpreting the signposts along Luke's way. In sharing their insights the authors recognise that they belong to a tradition that is as old as the church itself.
