The Psalms: A New Translation
The 150 poems which make up the book of psalms sing to us the human and divine history of Israel. A psalm is a religious song. The very word 'psalm' suggests a musical instrument, tambourine or sistrum, harp or primitive lyre, with which the singer accompanied his song. The psalms are a series of shouts: shouts of love and hatred; shouts of suffering or rejoicing; shouts of faith or hope.
