Prayer, Praise and Politics: Reflections on Thirty Two Psalms
The psalms are 'difficult'. Some find them remote, others are baffled by the violence and hatred they seem to support. What he finds most attractive in them, says Fr. Hill, is that they are so utterly ungenteel. This makes them an effective antidote to the sort of religious practice which is no more than a shield from the harsh realities of life. So he has made his own translation of thirty-two psalms, bringing out the way in which they gripped the real situations of their own day, and can do the same for ours.
