Canon and Authority: Essays in Old Testament Religion and Theology
The Bible has always processed special authority for believers. That authority, however, has not always gone unchallenged, least of all in our age of cultural upheaval with its questioning of established social and religious norms. Interestingly enough, biblical studies over recent decades have themselves contributed significantly to that questioning. Pursuing its own promising methodologies, biblical scholarship has come to an ever fuller appreciation of the rich diversity of viewpoints within the biblical materials.
