This first volume is mainly concerned with the sacraments of the Church most intimately associated with Christian worship; baptism, confirmation, and the eucharist. It is divided into five parts under the headings: (I) The Early Rites of Initiation; (II) The Early Eucharistic Liturgies; (III) The Sacramental System; (IV) The Eucharist as a Sacrament; and (V) The Eucharist as a Sacrifice.
