John Wesley and the Catholic Church
This book is an attempt to examine the doctrines held by Wesley, and to follow the inner development of Wesley's life as he came to adhere more closely, more maturely and exactly to them. A son of the eighteenth century, he saw fit to express himself with great precision. Thus, whilst he was a man of profound spiritual experience, he tried to put down as exactly as may be the truths which were the bedrock of his life. In examining these doctrines, an attempt is made in this book to see what is their relation to the traditional Catholicism of the Roman Catholic Church. Wesley certainly recognized that every Christian finds himself indebted historically to the Catholic Church for his Bible and his principal traditions.
