The Sign of the Cross: The Passion and Resurrection of Jesus According to St. John
St. john's narrative of the passion and resurrection of Christ consists of a series of 'signs' which together make up the greatest of signs, the sign of the cross, the central revelation of the christian religion. While narrating these great mysteries, the evangelist rarely pauses to comment; he has given his interpretation of them in earlier chapter. The writer of of this short commentary discusses the sign of the cross in the light of the earlier chapter of St. John, but also draws in passages from the synoptic gospels and from the old testament having tried to read this gospel in the spirit in which it was written, he hopes to find readers who will study his commentary in the same spirit.
