<note>This book actually reviews the political religious debate of the 17th century which is the true basis of the First Amendment, and it is invaluable in that sense. It does not refer the reviewed debate to the Amendment, nor does it use concepts such as Truth Triumphant or Denominationalism, or even the slogan -- 'in a free and fair debate the truth will win'. However, it does set out important figures, their works, summaries of their arguments, which the Supreme Court of America simply has no idea ever existed. The argument summaries are succinct and accurate. The book demonstrates how significant English reformers were setting out a theory for a way to come to truth, as an alternative approach to the intolerance of Anglicism and Presbyterianism. So it just depends on how one defines a Puritan. The reading is work, but not really, considering how it makes the content of the subject so much easier than what it would be otherwise.</note>
