John Wesley in the Evolution of Protestantism
Dr. Piette has offered a good example of such art. He has made a living picture, giving more than his title promised. We take it up as a study of one man and his work, but it becomes a study of the whole Reformation. There are books and books about the Reformation. Dr. Piette's is supposed to tell about only one reaction to it. But it is the Reformation itself he has done, and had to do, down to its very roots and in its own colours; raw where they were raw and blended with skill where in fact the actions of men did thus actually blend because no leaders to direct the few to be directed.
