Sister Mary Peter Traviss belongs to the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of San Jose, California, and is a member of their General Council, as well as being their Director of Education with a key role in developing their teacher education programmes and their administrative policies. She herself is qualified and experienced primary and secondary teacher, and has a Bachelor of Art degree, and two Master's, on with a major in Education. She has her Doctorate of Philosophy in Teacher Education from Stanford University, but did the research for her thesis on Moral Education under the supervision of Lawrence Kohlberg at Harvard.
