The School of Suffering: A Companion Book to 'More Joy'
The arrangement, while rather unusual, is the fruit of mature reflection. Lengthy discussions have been avoided; though good and necessary elsewhere, they seemed out of place here. The sick and sorrowing have scant patience with long disquisitions. Medicine is given and taken in small doses. Hence the brief paragraphs, mottoes, hints and aphorism. The attentive reader will observe the intrinsic connection between them all and realise that the course followed in this 'schools' is logically constructed and developed.
