Waterfront Priest
This story of the New York waterfront is the joint effort of two men, a Roman Catholic priest of the Jesuit Order, and a veteran newspaper reporter who is a Protestant. They had common aspirations in doing this work. First was the hope that the book might hasten the day when social justice rather than mob rule and excess of human greed would govern the labor-management relations of the great harbor of New York. To that end they hope that the reading of this book will encourage and strengthen the determination of a good many brave and honest men along the waterfront in business, government, and, labor to carry through to a successful con clusion the reforms now begun.
