<note>Studies in Pastoral Liturgy present in book form the Lectures of the first six sessions of the Irish Liturgical Congress, edited by Dom Placid Murray, O.S.B., one of Ireland's best known liturgical Scholars. From its beginnings the Irish Liturgical Congress has considered Mediator Dei as its charter. But it has not been content to state principles; it has tried to come to grip with existing conditions. The word 'pastoral' in the title is justified by the subjects the Congress has treated and by the number of contributions from priest engaged in pastoral work. In his Foreword the Archbishop of Cashel speaks of the debt the Irish movement owes , and grate fully acknowledges, to scholars from abroad. Readers will appreciate the value of the hat help in the substansial contributions from Father J.A. Jungmann, SJ., Professor Balthazar Fischer and Father Herman Schmidt, S.J. The book falls into three parts: Doctrinal, Pastoral and Documentary. The third part has been brought up to date to cover events of significance from 1947 to 1960 and this, together with the addition of a detailed Index, makes Studies in Pastoral Liturgy a Valuable desk companion for priests and a reliable guide for the growing number of laumen are discovering the riches of the liturgy.</note>
