This book tells the story of the first sixty odd years of the Papacy in the twentieth century, through the lives of the five Popes who covered that span, from Pius X to John XXIII (not including the present Pontificate of Pope Paul VI). It so happens that each of those five pontificates was associated with some outstanding historical event.
