<note>More than a decade after Vatican Council II issued its historic declaration denouncing the notion that Jews are guilty of decide, the ongoing dialogue between Christians and Jews has slowed almost to a halt. With the euphoric days of mutual rediscovery behind them the two religious traditions are coming up against more deeply-rooted differences in belief and attitude. Far from being discourage by this trend John T. Pawlikowski is hopeful that the new stage in dialogue will benefit both sides. Dialogue on fundamental differences is essential. Pawlikowski identifies these key issues: the Jewish covenant antisemitism in the New Testament the person of Jesus and moral aspects of the Nazi holocaust among others. He identifies the principal spokespersons on both sides of the issues. In short his book is an essential introduction to the current status of the Christian-Jewish dialogue.</note>
