This work attempts to bridge the gap between such approaches by showing how easily Paul moves between the two interrelated worlds. Leading scholars focus on three elements of Pauline studies which have gained prominence in recent years: the social setting of the Pauline texts; their rhetorical structure, style and argumentation; and Paul's use of the topoi of popular moral philosophy. Such studies demonstrate the extent to which Paul gives expression to Hellenistic culture and the freedom with which he draws on Jewish and Greek ideas and motifs without experiencing any fiction between them.
