That is not least because of the problems connected with it. At best it can be a mystery too soon, an intellectual obstacle on the obstacle course to heaven; at worst it can be an theological connection between the doctrine of the Trinity and the everyday life of Christians is tenuous in the extreme. Professor Mackey answers these problems by first bravely placing the doctrine of the Trinity in the broader context of contemporary culture, facing the dilemma that its recovery may actually widen the gap between Christians and their theological enemies (atheistic humanists) and potential allies (Jews and Moslems).
