ix + 147hlm: 13,5x21,5cm In The Resurrection of Jesus, Professor Ludemann, dissatisfied with what he regarded as the evasive answers given by so many theologians and scholars about the nature of the resurrection of Jesus, subjected the New Testament traditions to a thorough investigation. He concluded that the stories of the empty tomb may conceal a more dishonourable burial of the body of the executed Jesus. This tomb never became empty and the appearance stories, which have much theology and apologetic in them, relate to visions, first by Peter then by others. Nevertheless, he believed that Christianity still had positive message of resurrection. The book caused a storm in Germany, but its impact was somewhat diminished by its technical nature: it was written as a scholarly work, with full critical apparatus.
