Three central chapters explore the possibility of divine action in the world. In these Farrer illustrates the 'paradox' of double agency, divine and human, in the three fields of grace, nature and history; and shows that, far from being a theological problem or difficulty, this 'paradox' is properly the very form of practical religious thinking and understanding.
