The Moral Teaching of the New Testament
Moral theology is a theological discipline at the forefront of spiritual and intellectual renewal in the Church. Without is practical value to clergy and laity being in any way lessened, it has developed into a speculative field of interest in its own right to philosophers (especially moral philosophers) as well as to students of biblical, dogmatic and ascetic theology. Many recent works testify to this development. Yet most of those studies have been attempts to set forth a complete system of Christian moral teaching. Even though they have necessarily relied on biblical doctrine, they have not been devoted to an appraisal and analysis of the biblical sources of Christian moral teaching but to the creation of a systematic synthesis.
