It is based on Roland Pressat's Dictionnaire de Demographie, first published in 1979 and now a standard reference work. The English edition has been expanded and adapted for an Anglo American audience by Christopher Wilson, with the addition of new entries from a team of some thirty international contributors. The result is a comprehensive source book of information and ideas for all those whose work involves the study of population in the present or the past.
