The Adolescent
This book sets out to describe and explain the inner workings of boys and girls in their teens adolescents. As a group these young people seem to be out of gear with the rest of society. They have become a problem. By some, they are listed as the Number One problem; indeed to many people, adolescence is almost synonymous with deliquency. Few adults seem to feel comfortable or competent where these youngsters are concerned. Many parents look forward to the age with grim foreboding, bracing themselves for the shock, expecting the worst. Apparently they feel that arrival at the teens means that the boy or girl is going automatically to break out into strange excesses of behavior and become progressively less understandable and manageable. Too often they seem willing to throw in the towel and turn the whole thing over to the child, chance, or the ministrations of schools and other agencies.
