Science and Science Writing
Why science writing, and why a book on science writing? There are many reasons as there are publics for science and technology information. First, the scientific community. Scientists who specialize want to read also about scientific developments in other fields to crossfertilize their own. Second, the planners and policy makers in government. They need to be informed about developments in science and technology to appreciate S and T's importance to national development. Only when properly informed can they make the appropriate policies and allocate the financial resources for the development of science. Third, the business community. They are the people who commercialize new technologies developed in the research laboratories so that they can benefit the masses. They should be among the first to know what's going on in the field of science. Fourth, the end users. They are the people who will adopt the technology that is useful to their lives. Fifth and last, the general public. A society that is informed about the latest scientific developments is open to new ideas. A science literate public is progressive.
